Awkwafina

American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly rap tracks that tackled sexual identity and race with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first musical experience. She performed on the trumpet. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop studies began when she was a teenager. In her studies, she majored in journalism and women's studies in college even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. After graduating, it wasn't until that she turned her attention towards music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet before settling on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. This album also featured viral hits such as the body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$. This song is directly linked to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. She decided to pursue a career as an actor after completing her first two ventures as a musician and author. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films like Neighbors 2. Storks as well as Bad Rap. In the year 2018 she scored many breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's Eight or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by In Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
